Dry Mouth
Many adults have a condition that is known as xerostomia, or dry mouth. Dry mouth is characterized by a limited supply of saliva, and usually has a connection to other medications that the patient may be taking. However, this is not the only possible cause; other issues such as such as diabetes, dehydration and Sjogren’s Syndrome can bring about dry mouth. Whatever the cause may be, for many it can be quite uncomfortable as an adequate supply of saliva is important for healthy digestion.
Dry Mouth can also have related symptoms such as bad breath, sore throat and difficulties when speaking and/or swallowing. Dr. Jennifer Bartlett has many years of experience treating patients for this painful condition. Her first priority involves going into the patients’ history in great detail, in order to identify any contributing causes from patient medications. In instances where this is shown to be the case, she may compose a treatment plan which, in most cases, is simple to follow and can result in a significant improvement in the comfort of her patient’s, while bringing their overall dental health back into balance.
