Sedation Dentistry
Many children (and adults too!) have a deep seated fear and anxiety of going to see the dentist. It may be due to a painful past experience with traditional old methods of dentists, or the common association that going to the dentist means great pain. There have been many adults whose fears have had a profoundly emotional impact upon their decision to see a dentist to address very important dental needs. Over 50% of adults admit to being anxious of seeing the dentist. If this is you, don’t feel embarrassed you’re not as alone as you may think!
Times have changed, and many are discovering the freedom and peace of mind realized through Sedation Dentistry. Dr. Jennifer Bartlett has been championing the use of Sedation Dentistry to ensure for the comfort needs of her patients, allowing them to join others in restoring their dental health, and correcting painful dental problems.
Dr. Bartlett specializes in the most common approaches of Sedation Dentistry:
Nitrous Oxide (commonly referred to as Laughing Gas) – Great during dental procedures which are brief. Although the level of sedation is light, and the patient is awake during the process, it acts quickly, and makes for a pain-free experience for the patient. Rather than actually laughing, most patients simply have a great sense of well being, and smile, and occasionally may giggle a little!
Oral Sedation – Is a deeper sedation suitable for longer procedures. Rather than using a mask, a small pill is taken, easing the patient into a sedated state where they experience no discomfort during the entire procedure.
Dr. Bartlett will carefully and completely explain each step of the procedure and is able to answer any questions, so that the patient is fully comfortable and there are no surprises. This has shown to bring a great deal of ease, in her patients.
